A tool to build emotional literacty

What is COLOR MENDING?

Color Mending is a 7-step process that builds emotional literacy through coloring. After coloring what you are feeling onto a blank piece of paper, Color Mending helps you identify the message the coloring is bringing to your attention:

  • Colors represent emotional states. For example: happy, grief, confidence, frustration, self-love, and fear.

  • Shapes are what the emotion is a reflection of. For example: loyalty to yourself or your destiny and goals.

This process, especially when done regularly, helps build emotional literacy.

What is emotional literacy?

Emotional literacy is the ability to (1) label the emotion you are feeling, (2) understand why you’re feeling that emotion, and (3) expressing the emotion productively.

Being emotionally literate is the foundation for living a fulfilling life.

It teaches us how to use the emotions we feel as information to make decisions that align us with ourselves. It helps us stay neutral, instead of reactive. It helps us stay present, instead of absent. It helps us identify old patterns and beliefs we are ready to let go of. And, it helps us cultivate new habits and beliefs that help us feel more fulfilled.

Color Mending Benefits

Experience Color Mending

From purchasing the ebook to working with Chelsea (the creator of Color Mending) in group settings or 1:1, there are several ways to learn about and experience the benefits of Color Mending.

Why COLOR MENDING is Effective

Color Mending uses one of the first skills we develop as kids—coloring.

Tapping into your childlike state naturally puts you in the frequency of curiosity and play. These are powerful, healing frequencies. When we’re in these frequencies we’re more receptive to the information we discover while coloring.

3 Stages of Color Mending

The Color Mending eBook walks you through each stage of the process.

Stage 1: Prepare

Before coloring out an emotion, you first decide what type of feeling you want to color (heavy or light). You then write out your intention and take a moment to breathe. Each of these steps helps to make the coloring and interpreting processes easier.

Step 2: Color

After deciding if you want to color about heavy or light feelings, and setting an intention for your coloring, you’ll color on a blank piece of paper. You’ll color anything that comes to mind when thinking about your intention. You can use multiple sheets of paper if needed.

Step 3: Interpret

After your coloring(s) feels complete, you’ll use the Color and Common Shape Charts to interpret the coloring(s). Every shape and color has a meaning. Colors represent emotional states, and shapes represent what the emotion is a reflection of.
